Two people died and two others were injured in a house fire Saturday morning in Colleyville, fire officials said, as crews responded to a structure blaze in a residential neighborhood amid cold weather conditions.

Firefighters were dispatched shortly after 10 a.m. Saturday to the 3600 block of Sweetbriar Lane in Colleyville after calls reporting a home fire, the city said in a statement. Upon arrival, crews found heavy flames and learned that two residents had already exited the home with injuries.

Those who had exited the residence were treated for minor injuries, and one was transported to a hospital, authorities said. As firefighters worked to suppress the blaze, they made multiple attempts to search the interior for people believed to be inside. Once the fire was extinguished, two individuals were found dead inside the home.

The identities of the victims have not been released. Fire officials confirmed no firefighters were injured in the response, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation, the city said.

The incident comes as parts of North Texas dealt with winter weather that has complicated emergency responses and travel, although it is unclear whether weather conditions played a role in this particular fire.
