McKinney police have two people behind bars after a deadly shooting Wednesday night.

Police were called to an apartment complex on McDonald Street in McKinney just after 8 p.m. Wednesday. Witnesses told them a 19-year-old had approached a pickup truck in the parking lot and began firing at two people inside the truck.

Police say the passenger in the truck was a 20-year-old and he shot back. The 19-year-old was treated at the scene by EMS but died from his injuries. The pickup truck from the apartment complex was later spotted at Medical City McKinney dropping that 20-year-old man along with an 18-year-old.

The 20-year-old died from his injuries at the hospital. Police tried to stop the pickup as it was leaving, but say the driver sped off. That pursuit ended in Richardson where the driver tried to run away on foot but was captured.

He's identified as 21-year-old Josue Mejia and has been charged with murder. The 18-year-old at the hospital is Christopher Perez. He's also charged with murder.
