Dallas Police have announced over the last two days the Department's Street Racing Task Force responded to eleven takeover events across the city.

During these takeover events, large groups of people would turn up and block a street intersection, allowing others to perform stunts in their cars.

Police say they were faced with people firing paintballs and fireworks at them at multiple locations over the course of the weekens.

They also listed three major arrests from this weekend's operation including one in the 4200 block of Parry Avenue where two people were shooting assault rifles into the air.

After police attempted to stop their car the suspects fled the scene, to eventually be apprehended by police. Included in this arrest was the recovery of "two assault rifles equipped with an illegal lower receiver which converts the rifle into a pistol."

Another major arrest involved a spectator with a stolen weapon at 4100 Parry Avenue.

The third took place in the 1600 block of W. Mockingbird Lane where police heard gunfire. The two people subsequently arrested were seen "hiding between vehicles with an assault rifle and a handgun."

In total, police made 81 arrests, seized 7 guns, towed 35 vehicles, issued 16 spectator citations and 27 other citations.
