Austin City Limits festival to require proof of vaccination or negative COVID test

If you're attending October's Austin City Limits Music Festival you'll need either proof you've been vaccinated or a show a negative COVID-19 test.

The festival's organizers announced the changes earlier Thursday, as COVID-19 cases in the Austin area and across the state of Texas continue to spike.

Fully vaccinated people can get in if they show their vaccination record. Everyone else will need a negative covid test obtained 72 hours before attending the festival. These documents will need to be shown each day.

After being shut down last year because of the on going pandemic, fans couldn't wait to buy tickets to this year's event. Tickets sold out quickly when they went on sale back in May.

One of the headliners, Stevie Nicks, announced that she is canceling her appearance at ACL fest along with 4 other shows scheduled this year due to COVID-19 concerns.

As for masks, ACL says it will have more information on masking closer to the start of the festival.

A group called "CANCEL ACL FEST" launched an on-line petition earlier this month urging the city of Austin to cancel the festival because of the current surge in new covid cases. However, the festival is still on and will run from October 1st thru October 10th.
