A big North Texas event is cancelled because of the continued spread of COVID-19.
Officials say the 2021 H-E-B Central Market Plano Balloon Festival scheduled the weekend of September 17th is now cancelled.
The Festival board says it made the difficult decision because of the rise in COVID-19 cases, and says it has to make the health and safety of everyone involved a top priority.
The board says in making the decision, they are mindful an extremely large number of families attend the event and most of them have kids under 12.
They say providing a safe environment for everyone is crucial especially for the youngest attendees. They say they look forward to having the best festival ever in 2022.
