In partnership with the SPCA of Texas, Newsradio 1080 KRLD brings you 'Adoptable Pet Pals,' a weekly feature to introduce you to animals that are ready for adoption.
KRLD's Kristin Diaz along with Maura Davies from the SPCA highlight the critical need for adopting families at local animal shelters by showcasing an "Adoptable Pet Pal" that has stayed at the shelter too long.
Meet this week's featured Pet Pal, Wednesday Adams!

Wednesday Adams is a two-year-old female Lab/Great Dane mix who weighs in at a whopping 96 pounds. She is friendly, fun-loving, energetic, smart and so sweet. This big lady is an athlete at heart, so she'd do really well in a home that is used to an active, young dog. She's good with other dogs and human kids, too, so please bring the whole family in to meet her. Wednesday Adams is working on learning to sit and shake hands, so come out and see what she can do. She is at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center, so no appointment is necessary to meet her. Just come on by 2400 Lone Star Drive in Dallas any day of the week between noon and 6 p.m.
Meet Elsa!

Meet Elsa! She is an adorable and loving pup waiting for her forever family with the SPCA of Texas. Elsa is a female Retriever mix who is 4 years old and 61 pounds. She is covered in a coat of jet-black fur with some white sneaking in here and there too. Elsa has a good bit of energy and she does like to get out and play. She would love to go to a home with a securely fenced backyard, but any owner who makes sure she gets her exercise will do. Elsa gets along with other dogs and seems to do well with human kiddos to. She is waiting at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center, so no prior appointment is necessary to meet Elsa in person.
Meet Johnny!

Meet Johnny! He is a good guy who simply fell on some hard times and now needs a family to make his life complete again. Johnny was brought in to the SPCA of Texas as a stray from Dallas County Animal Services. He is a blend of mixed breeds, and he's on the large side at 44 pounds. Johnny is a sweet boy but he is still a bit on the timid side. He can frighten easily, so it would be great for him to go to a calm and serene home to make the transition easier. All kids in the home should be over 5 years old, and another canine companion for Johnny would be wonderful. He is at the Russell E. Dealey Animal Rescue Center, so a prior appointment is necessary.
Meet Marvin!

Meet Marvin! At 4 p.m. on New Year's Eve this little fellow was found wandering alone in Ellis County, making him one of the last animals brought in for 2022. Marvin is a friendly enough guy. He's a Retriever mix who weighs in at 48 pounds and is covered in a very handsome light brown coat. He is 4 years old, quite intelligent, and is more than ready to settle into a forever home. He may be a little timid when first meeting new people, but that shouldn't last too long. Marvin is currently housed at the SPCA of Texas Ellis County Animal Care Center in Waxahachie. It is open every Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Meet Kitten!

Meet Kitten! This is a cat for a true cat lover. While his name is "Kitten" he is very far from it. Kitten is a male Domestic Shorthair mix who is more than 16 years old at this point. There is still a lot of adorableness in him, but he is definitely an older man. As such, Kitten is available as a foster-to-adopt as he has regular medical needs for diabetes and special care required. But while Kitten requires extra TLC, he is far from disabled. He's a very spunky guy with a big personality. He is also a hugely affectionate cat. Kitten is waiting at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas, so no advanced appointment is necessary to meet him in person.

KRLD values the connection between animals and people. Through the incredible selflessness of animal advocates who rescue, rehabilitate, foster and adopt animals, we hope to be partners in finding safe and forever homes for these animals in need.
Regular adoption fees are $150 for puppies and kittens aged 0-6 months and $75 for adult dogs and cats aged 6 months or older. Fee includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a heartworm test for dogs six months and older and a FIV/FeLV test for cats 4 months and older, initial flea/tick preventative and heartworm preventative, a microchip, 30 days of PetHealth Insurance provided by PetHealth, a free 14-day wellness exam with VCA Animal Hospitals, a rabies tag and a free leash.
