In partnership with the SPCA of Texas, NewsRadio 1080 KRLD brings you 'Adoptable Pet Pals,' a weekly feature to introduce you to animals that are ready for adoption.
KRLD's Kristin Diaz along with Maura Davies from the SPCA highlights the critical need for adopting families at local animal shelters by showcasing an "Adoptable Pet Pal" that has stayed at the shelter too long.
Meet our featured pet pal: Zeke!

Meet Zeke, the 7-year-old mixed breed dog with a heart of gold! Zeke's wagging tail and calm demeanor will win over every heart he meets. Zeke's a pro at sitting and giving pawshakes, but he has a soft spot for couches! In a glowing testimonial from his foster, we learned that Zeke aced outings, signaled potty breaks, and charmed everyone, even a baby. He's good with other dogs, and car rides don't faze him. Zeke's dream home? Anywhere with a comfy couch, and he adores kids! Ready for a lovable, couch-sharing companion? Zeke's your guy!! He’s patiently waiting for you at the SPCA of Texas’ Dallas Animal Care Center at 2400 Lone Star Drive. Come on by any day of the week from noon to 6 p.m. https://spca.org/adoptable/zeke/
Meet Goldie

Meet Goldie, an adorable, nine-and-a-half-year-old Domestic Shorthair mix cat with a heart as golden as her name. Weighing in at 10 pounds, Goldie’s demeanor is sweet, friendly and gentle. She carries a mellow spirit that radiates calmness, making her an ideal companion for a peaceful home environment. Goldie is a bit shy, so she would thrive best in a home with children older than 15 and gentle, furry friends that will respect her space. Despite her timid nature, with a little time and TLC, Goldie’s immense capacity for love and companionship will shine right through. She is waiting at the Dallas Animal Care Center (2400 Lone Star Drive) for a forever home where she can share her golden years, while providing a comforting presence and unconditional love. Come and meet Goldie any day of the week from Noon to 6 p.m.—no appointment is necessary. Adopt Goldie and let her enrich your life with her gentle spirit and sweet affection. There is no adoption fee for seniors who adopt senior animals such as Goldie!
Meet Kiefer

I want you to meet Kiefer, a one-year-old, mixed breed fella weighing in at 54 pounds. He is the sweetest boy ever and the cutest tripod!
This bundle of joy does not let the fact that he has three legs slow him down! He runs and plays with the best of them! However, it also gives him more chances for cuddles and belly rubs, which he adores. Kiefer is a beautiful tan boy with a white underbelly and neck. He has the cutest widow’s peak and floppy little ears. And when Keifer looks at you with those big brown eyes, you will melt! Although he hasn’t had much experience with kids, Kiefer will probably do very well with children; however, it always is best to bring all siblings—two-and four-legged—to the meet and greet prior to adoption. Gentleness is key in Keifer’s situation. Like all pets from the SPCA of Texas, Kiefer has been neutered, microchipped and is current on all his necessary vaccines. He is waiting for his forever home at our Dallas Animal Care Center, so come to meet him any day of the week from Noon to 6 p.m., at 2400 Lone Star Drive in Dallas. To find Kiefer’s profile, go to SPCA.org/dogs and search for his name.
Meet Tanner Rose

Say hi to Tanner Rose, a sassy older gal who loves playing with her toys and daily walks! A little white around the muzzle, she has a beautiful smile—it looks as if she’s laughing—and the cutest little misshapen ears. Tanner Rose is a 10-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix and weighs 41 pounds. She loves snoozing her way around the house, on her own bed or in her crate. And Tanner Rose appreciates it when people take their time getting to know her. But, once you bond with her, that loving bond will last forever! Tanner Rose is very treat motivated and is quick to learn new things. You might not notice it at first, but she is deaf. It isn’t a huge deal, but she might startle easily if she can’t see something coming. This leads to an exciting adventure for Tanner Rose’s new owner. You will have to learn to train her using visual cues instead of audible ones! But, do not fret, she picks things up quickly. She already knows sit and is both crate and leash-trained. Tanner Rose should be the only pup in the home. She’s currently in foster care and her foster mom says Tanner Rose is a “big goof and a total joy to have around!” An appointment is necessary to meet her. The easiest way to do this is to find Tanner Rose’s profile at SPCA.org/dogs and click on the “Make an Appointment” button. The SPCA of Texas team will set everything up from there. Like all pets from the SPCA of Texas, Tanner Rose has been spayed, microchipped and is current on all her necessary vaccines.
Meet Dutchman

Meet Dutchman, the wise 7-year-old mixed breed dog with a heart of gold! Dutchman will sniff you at first to get to know you, and with a warm heart and some patience, he quickly becomes your best bud. Dutchman dreams of a home with a backyard—a space to call his own, and perfect for refining his leash-walking skills. Kids, you ask? Let's meet them! Dutchman's shy nature doesn't rule out the possibility of a wonderful friendship. As for his furry friends, Dutchman's open to the idea, but a confident, friendly dog could be just the mentor he needs. Don't wait! Bring your family and any potential doggy pals down to meet Dutchman. Together, you can create a world of adventures and love that'll last a lifetime!Like all pets from the SPCA of Texas, Dutchman has been neutered, microchipped and is up to date on all his necessary vaccinations. He is housed at the Russell E. Dealey Animal Rescue Center, so you’ll need an appointment to meet him. To do that, just find his profile at spca.org/dogs and click on that make an appointment button. He can’t wait to meet you!
