An alleged serial rapist who eluded capture for more than a decade is finally behind bars.
Fort Worth Police had been investigating sexual assaults that happened back in 2010 and 2011. Based on DNA evidence, they were able to link them to a cold case out of McAllen in 2002.
Through this, police were able to identify Pedro Samarrippas as their suspect, since he had lived in McAllen and Fort Worth at the times of the respective offenses.
Detectives obtained Samarrippas' DNA through a search warrant, and it matched the DNA in the Fort Worth cases.
Samarrippas was arrested late last month by the U.S. Border Patrol as he tried entering Mexico. He has since been returned to Fort Worth and is in the Tarrant County Jail.
Fort Worth Police believe there are other victims and want to hear from them.
