The Allen City Council Monday acknowledged a $15,000 gift raised at a benefit concert held by the men's chorus The Vocal Majority over the weekend.
Monday's meeting was the first for the council since the mass murder at the Allen Outlet Mall on May 6th. A moment of silence was observed in respect for the eight victims who were killed.
The Vocal Majority concert in McKinney raised $10,000 and the chorus added another $5,000 from its own funds.
The money will go toward non-profits who provide assistance to the survivors, the families of the victims and to first responders.
