Fort Worth-based American Airlines wants thousands of flight attendants who have been on leave to come back to work.
The airline is cancelling extended leaves for 3,300 flight attendants. The company wants them back on the job by November or December in time for the holiday travel season.
Some flight attendants were furloughed last year and others were encouraged to take voluntary leave as airlines dealt with a sharp down-turn in the demand for air travel because of COVID-19.
The demand for leisure air travel has been increasing since February, and American Airline now says it is ready to bring workers back.
The company also anticipates hiring 800 new flight attendants by March of next year.
