American Airlines is about to unveil a brand-new concept for air travel at DFW Airport involving electronic boarding gates.
The gates will be placed inside Terminal C's Pier Expansion as well as Terminal A this summer.
Passengers will scan their boarding passes in the system which will then open up allowing passengers through.
"Boarding plays a key role in how customers experience the final moments before their flight, and electronic boarding gates will further elevate that experience, creating a more seamless and consistent process," said American's Chief Customer Officer Heather Garboden in a news release Tuesday.
This follows a pilot program American launched last November they say was highly successful.
American says this is the latest in a series of digital innovations they have introduced.
