A North Texas museum dedicated to the history of the United States is expanding.
The American Journey Experience in Irving will soon be housed in a new building.
Executive Director Suzanne Grishman says it is no coincidence they are celebrating this milestone during the country's 250th anniversary.
"We have amazing donors and they have stepped up and supported our efforts to be able to build this museum out," Grishman said. "We are building out throughout the end of the year and we will be opening in the first quarter of 2027."
The museum and associated library have grown since they first opened in the middle of Covid.
Grishman says a unique aspect of the museum includes being able to handle some of the documents and artifacts.
"They don't just look at history behind glass," she said of the visitors who come to the museum. "They can interact with it, handle artifacts, and connect with the stories behind the historical artifacts."
