A new report suggests more than half of Arlington's school children sit in classrooms within a half mile of a natural gas drilling site.

The Center for Investigative Reporting finds that not only do more than 30,000 Arlington children go to a school near a drilling site but also more than 7,000 young children, including infants, spend part of their day at private daycare centers with the same half-mile distance.

The report says there are more than 50 drilling sites in Arlington.

Among the report's many observations, "researchers at Oregon State University found a 59% increase in the odds of at least one asthma hospitalization among children who lived in Texas ZIP codes with fracking."
