The Texas Rangers and Cordish Companies have started construction on an apartment complex in the Arlington Entertainment District. "One Rangers Way" will have 300 apartments and will be across Nolan Ryan Expressway from Choctaw Stadium.
"This place is going to be absolutely phenomenal," says Mayor Jim Ross. "It will be unmatched, mid-rise, luxury resort-type living."
The 43,000 square foot facility will include a deck with green spaces as well as conference, coworking and entertainment spaces. Cordish Companies also plans to build a parking garage with 423 spaces.
"We do have the privilege as a company of working with a lot of cities across the United States," says Blake Cordish. "I can tell you this one is without peer. There is a can-do spirit of professionalism and energy, a commitment to its community."
"This is really an incredible step here because had you told me ten years ago, 'We're going to have high-end living in the middle of the Entertainment District,' I'd think, 'What are you talking about?'" Ross says.
While the Arlington Entertainment District draws millions of tourists a year, Ross says the complex called, "One Rangers Way," will create a constant human presence even when no sporting events or concerts are scheduled.
"This is the beginning," he says, "Look for this skyline to change because it's starting to change right now. Look at this. We're very excited."
"Don't turn around or you're going to see another building," says Rangers Owner Ray Davis. "We're very excited about this. It's one of the fastest growing sports and entertainment centers in the United States, and we have much more planned."
The Rangers, Cordish Companies and Loews Hotels say they plan $4 billion in development in the Arlington Entertainment District, and $1 billion in construction is underway now.
One Rangers Way is scheduled to open in 2024.
