The land where Arlington's former Webb Elementary once stood is now a parcel of red dirt. The land has now been cleared two months after demolition of the 63-year-old structure near Randol Mill Road and N. Cooper Street.
With funds from a 2019 bond package, the district built a new campus next door to the old one and then made plans to raze the building, which began as Nichols Junior High in 1960. When Nichols moved to a new campus in 1993, the building was re-purposed to become Webb Elementary.
The now-empty field that once held the old school will become an activity field for the students at the new Webb. The field will be re-graded and then fenced in.
