The pedestrian run over and killed in Arlington last week has now been identified but the investigation into the death of Jack Snodgrass continues.
Last Thursday night, the 72-year-old Snodgrass was killed while crossing North Fielder Road just south of I-30. Arlington police say he was first struck by a Pontiac. That impact threw him into the path of a Honda Civic whose driver could not avoid hitting him.
Snodgrass was pronounced dead at the scene. Both drivers stopped to help and to speak with police so it does not look like they will be charged. Investigators say the victim was not using a crosswalk when he was hit.
Arlington police point out this all happened about 10:30 p.m. well after dark and they say it's very dangerous any time to cross a busy street like Fielder without using a crosswalk at a signalled intersection.
