Arlington police have captured and arrested a man they say stabbed his mom to death, then fled the scene.
Teresa Dewitt Pierce, 55, was found dead in the front yard of her home at around 7:30 Sunday evening.
Her husband found her bleeding in the front yard of their home on Longmeadow Drive near Arbrook and South Cooper.
Arlington police put out the word they were looking for Dewitt-Pierce's adult son, Nathan Woodard.
Monday night, police found Woodard at an address about three miles away.
He was booked into the Arlington city jail on a murder charge.
Police say while investigators are still working to establish a specific motive, there is history between Woodard and his mother.
"Mr. Woodard is homeless and has had some issues with his family," says Ciesco. "We have had dealings with him in the past. Most of our dealings with him have been for more minor things, several issues with theft."
However, at the time of her murder, Dewitt Pierce had actually taken out an order of protection against her son, stemming in part from an incident in early January.
"He had slashed the tires on his mother and stepfather's vehicle," Ciesco says.
