The first lawsuit in connection with the explosion at a Fort Worth hotel Monday has been filed.

Atmos Energy has been working with investigators to find out if the cause of the explosion was a gas leak. The company has now completed its safety checks and found no indication of their system being the cause of the explosion. This means it wasn't caused by a gas leak.

Now a lawsuit has been filed by Christopher Medearis, who was one of the 21 people injured in the blast on Monday afternoon.

While trying to run away from the blast the lawsuit claims Medearis "tripped, fell, and as a result suffered personal bodily injury."

The suit names Atmos Energy, the Sandman Signature Fort Worth Hotel, and parent company Northland Properties whose CEO is Dallas Stars owner Tom Gaglardi.

It claims that the hotel failed to ensure that conditions were safe and that Atmos failed to adequately detect and monitor for natural gas leaks at the hotel.
