There's a new attempt to get bond lowered for a former Wolfe City police officer who is jailed on a murder charge.
In court papers, attorneys for Sean Lucas are telling the 6th Court of Appeals they will appeal a writ ruling from last month that denied a lower bond.
Lucas is currently being held in the Collin County jail on $1 million bond for the October shooting that killed Wolfe City community leader Jonathan Price.
Price was reportedly trying to break up a fight when Lucas, then a Wolfe City police officer, arrived and tried to arrest him. Price was killed.
In a hearing last month a District Court judge refused the defense's contention that the bond was excessive and in violation of the 8th amendment.
Lucas was arrested after the Texas Rangers concluded his actions against Price were not objectively reasonable.
