DENTON (1080 KRLD) - Democratic candidate for governor Beto O'Rourke made a campaign stop in Denton Wednesday.

O'Rourke said Abbott's signing of some of Texas' abortion laws, that bans nearly all abortions and shuts down clinics that provide critical health care services to women, could potentially cause their deaths.

He also slammed the governor on his handling of the power grid crisis of February 2021.

"His buddies, these energy traders and pipeline CEOs made $11 billion dollars in illegal and immoral profits of suffering Texans." O'Rourke said. "He then stuck you and me with the bill."

O'Rourke spoke at Denton's Civic Center as part of his "A Drive for Texas," a 49-day tour with 70 events in more than 65 counties and 75 communities.

The candidate slammed the governor for bussing migrants to Chicago, New York and Washington DC, as well as his handling of the Uvalde school shooting.
