The Cooke County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a bison was found shot and decapitated sometime between November 23 and November 26 on private ranch land near County Road 301 and FM 3108, south of Lindsay.
Deputies say the animal’s head had been removed when they arrived, and investigators are now working to identify whoever is responsible.
The sheriff’s office has posted a $3,000 reward for information leading to an arrest, and ranch officials are urging anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area over Thanksgiving weekend to come forward.
