The Botham Jean Act, also known as Bo's Law, is now law in Texas.
The Governor signed the measure into law earlier this week. It takes effect September first.
Bo's Law for one thing will now make it illegal for police to turn off body cameras during investigations.
The law is named after Botham Jean, the Dallas man gunned down in his own apartment by an off-duty Dallas police officer in 2018.
That now former officer, Amber Guyer, is serving 10 years behind bars for his murder. She is appealing her conviction.
Guyer claims she thought she had entered her own apartment and mistook Jean for an intruder.
