Carter BloodCare is attempting to boost the region's blood supply with two blood drives this weekend in Fort Worth.
The first will be at the Marco's Pizza location on N. Tarrant Parkway between 11:00am and 2:00pm on Saturday. The second will be at the Marco's Pizza location on N. Beach Street on Saturday between 4:00pm and 7:00pm. The Carter BloodCare bus will be at both locations.
Officials with Carter BloodCare say having an adequate supply will be more important as people across north Texas return to their normal activities, now that COVID-19 cases are dropping. At the start of the pandemic in 2020, many companies and organizations stopped doing blood drives. Officials with Carter BloodCare say that had a big impact on supply, which has not returned to its pre-pandemic levels.
Between 600 and 800 people need blood transfusions each day in north Texas.
Carter BloodCare is urging people who want to donate this weekend to set up an appointment by calling 817-741-4005. They're also asking people who do sign up to fill out a screening form in advance on their web site.
