Shoppers are out in force today, checking out the newly reopened Central Market at Preston Royal in Dallas, which is open again for the first time in nearly two years.

The location closed down after tornados swept through North Dallas in October 2019, causing widespread damage, including to the store and others in the Preston Oaks Shopping Center.

But, in a sign that the community is recovering, the Central Market Location has finally reopened. Today, it’s filled with excited shoppers.

“It means a lot,” one shopper said. “We’ve been waiting for this for two years.”

“At the end of the day, it’s just a grocery store,” said another. “But it’s also clearly more than that.”

Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson says the store’s reopening is the latest chapter in the city’s comeback story.
