Celina has five new outdoor warning sirens this year to help keep people safe in the event of severe weather.

City leaders say the additional outdoor sirens are needed because more people keep moving there. The new sirens have been strategically positioned around town, including at Fire Station No. 3 3 and police headquarters. They've been tested and are ready to go.

The sirens are not just for tornados, they'll sound if severe thunderstorms have winds exceeding 70 miles per hour, or if hail more than 1.5 inches in diameter is reported. If you hear the sirens, seek shelter immediately.
