City of Coppell cracking down on short-term rentals

Coppell is cracking down on short-term rentals, and the landlords who violate the city's ordinance.

Up until now, the City of Coppell never had any recourse in dealing with repeat violators of its short-term rental ordinances, such as the maximum number of occupants and vehicles and noise issues.

But Luay Rahil, the city's environmental health officer, says that will change starting this Sunday.

"If a permit holder violates the ordinance fourt times in a 12 month period, the city has the right to revoke their permit" said Rahil.

And those who do have their permits revoked would have to wait at least six months before applying for a new permit.

The requirements remain the same, including no more than one car per bedroom, no more than two adults per bedroom, and no more than ten people per house.
