Last night, the McKinney City Council modified an ordinance to allow residents to keep potbelly pigs as pets. This comes after a request from Mckinney resident Bridgett White, who has a pet pig herself.

"Your life will never be the same," White said at last night's meeting, warning that house pigs are a big commitment. "Being almost Christmas, I don't want people to run out and get a cute little pig not knowing that she's going to grow to possibly the 145 pounds that our [pig] is."

White is encouraging people to do some serious research before rushing off to buy a potbelly pig.

Under the city’s rules, families are only allowed to have one miniature swine under 150 pounds per single family home.
