The city of Richardson is restoring some of the internal network connections that were disrupted when the city's computer systems were targeted by hackers last week.
Internal access to the city's servers was shut down as a precaution after the attack. The city is working with the FBI to determine the type of data that may have been compromised. The Department of Homeland Security has also been notified.
Residents have been able to submit utility bill payments online through the city's website or smartphone app. However, there may still be some delays in posting those payments. The computer system that supports Richardson's 24-hour telephone response line is also still being examined.
The city has a backup number, 972-744-4487, which residents can use if the main number is not available.
