Classes will be in session at a Fort Worth elementary school today even though an arson fire did some serious damage over the weekend.

Late Saturday night, flames broke out at Atwood-McDonald Elementary in east Fort Worth. Fort Worth Police made a quick arrest, jailing a man named Joseph Dorsey while crediting the work of a security personnel monitoring video feeds showing a man breaking into the school. That meant police were already on the way when the fire was started.

While school will start on time today, parents and students will be directed to alternative drop-off and pick-up locations. Some classes will use different rooms because of damage.

Over the weekend, cleaning crews used heavy fans and other equipment to minimize the smell of smoke.
