A Collin county man is headed to federal prison for fraud, accused of cheating the government out of pandemic relief money.

So far as white collar crooks go, 39-year old Shalom Ayotunde was quite busy. The Nigerian national posed as a businessman and convinced people in south Texas, Pennsylvania, and California to send him around $800,000 in one fake scheme.

In another, he managed to convince several banks to process fake loan applications to get over a million dollars in COVID relief Payroll Protection Program money. He did it all on a phony passport.

Ayotunde pleaded guilty in July and a federal judge has now decided the crimes deserve a four year prison term and the return of the PPP money.
