Community activists gather outside Dallas PD headquarters demanding officer Riser have his job back

DALLAS (1080 KRLD)- Former Dallas police officer Bryan Riser as well as community activists gathered today outside Dallas police headquarters demanding Riser be given his job back.

Riser, a 13-year-veteran, was arrested and charged with two counts of capital murder on March 4 for allegedly ordering the killings of Liza Saenz, 31, and Albert Douglas, 61. He was fired on March 9 after an Internal Affairs investigation.

But a judge threw the case out citing lack of evidence. Riser, who had been in custody since his arrest, walked out free later that day.

Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia disagreed with the decision and says the investigation into the case continues.

The activists want to meet with Garcia in the coming days, demanding an apology and Riser's reinstatement.
