It's not that hard to find a job these days. But it's sure hard for Dallas Love Field and DFW Airport to find someone to take one.
Memorial Day is just weeks away, the semi-official beginning of the summer travel season, but with more people traveling they'll want to buy refreshments or eat in the terminal restaurants. But the concessionaires cannot find nearly enough people to work.
Some would think with unemployment still doggedly high, applicants would be flooding in. But no.
There might be several reasons. For one, there are lingering concerns about the Coronavirus. Also, parents have to think about affordable child care.
And, of course, a lot of people make more in unemployment benefits than they would with a job especially $300 a week federal subsidies on top of state unemployment pay.
The Dallas Love Field and DFW Airport concessionaires are offering higher starting wages in hopes of luring people in.
