A man convicted of dealing drugs at the Han Gil Hotel in northwest Dallas has been sentenced to 40 years in federal prison. Bryan Reshad Hill, age 39, was convicted of conspiracy to distribute heroin and crack cocaine.
Prosecutors say Hill was one of the dealers who operated a drug organization out of the hotel with the cooperation of the owner. The property was the site of four deaths and dozens of drug-related incidents before the hotel was shut down and the building was demolished.
Hotel owner Amos Mun is currently serving a 20-year federal prison sentence. Prosecutors said he allowed rampant drug activity at the hotel and charged drug dealers higher rates to rent rooms at the property.
Hill is also suspected of sexually assaulting and killing a 19-year-old woman, but has not been convicted in that case. Prosecutors presented evidence during the sentencing phase of his drug trial showing him carrying the victim into a bathroom, then leaving the room a few minutes later. That woman's death at the hotel was one of several that were tied to the widespread drug dealing and drug usage at the property. Hill is the 24th defendant sentenced in the case.
"It has been four years since our office began its investigation of Han Gil Hotel Town, and today, we are proud to bring this sordid case to a close," said U.S. Attorney Chad Meacham. "We know, however, that our work is far from over. We will continue our crack down on violent drug traffickers and the establishments that allow them to operate."
