Thanks to a new court ruling, a sex discrimination case against the Dallas County Sheriff's Department can move forward.

In a rare ruling by the full US 5th Circuit Court, nine female jailers are being allowed to present their sex discrimination case against Dallas County.

The lawsuit claims that men are given far more favorable schedules. The jailers say while men can take both Saturday and Sunday off, women jailers are to work at least one weekend day. And the suit says it's blatent sex discrimination.

The original lawsuit quotes a sergeant who said it would be, "unsafe for all the men to be off during the week and that it was safer for the men to be off on the weekends."

A three-judge panel initially ruled against the jailers but the full court agreed to hear the matter and ruled the women have met the threshold to show possible discrimination.

The lawsuit was sent back to a US District court for further action.
