For the second time in four years, the Dallas Cowboys are spending their first draft pick on a linebacker.
In last night's opening round of the NFL draft, Dallas selected Penn State's Micah Parsons, hoping to shore up what was last year, a historically bad defense.
With their first pick in the 2018 draft, the Cowboys selected Boise State linebacker Leighton Vander Esch.
The team's decision may have been influenced by this week's retirement of eleven-year veteran linebacker Sean Lee.
Going into the draft with the tenth pick overall, the Cowboys traded down to number twelve in return for Philadelphia's third-round pick today.
