A Crowley 9th grade teacher is on administrative leave following an excessive force complaint from a student.
The incident occurred in a classroom and was recorded by other students and posted on social media, according to reports.
The video appears to show a student attempting to leave a classroom as the teacher blocks the doorway. In the video, the teacher places his hands on the student who says, "Get your hands off of me." The teacher then wraps his arms around the student’s neck and pins him to the ground for an unknown amount of time.
The district said in a statement: "The video is disturbing and unacceptable. The improper actions taken by the teacher do not align with Crowley ISD’s expectations for our educators, and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken."
The district notified parents but did not release the names of the teacher or the students involved.
