Dozens of CVS pharmacies in Texas will get doses of the COVID-19 vaccine next week. Customers in Group 1-A or 1-B who are eligible to receive the vaccine can begin receiving those doses on February 11th.
"The federal government will deliver vaccines directly to select pharmacies across the country," said federal coronavirus coordinator Jeff Zients. "This will provide more sites for people to get vaccinated in their communities. These are places ranging from local independent pharmacies to national pharmacies and supermarkets."
Nation-wide, one-million doses will be going to 6,500 different pharmacies. C-V-S will receive the doses at 70 of its stores in Texas - including locations in Plano, Abilene, Amarillo, Beaumont, Brownsville, El Paso, Houston, Laredo, Lubbock, Midland, San Antonio and Waco. Texas will receive approximately 38,000 total doses as part of the program.
"One of our greatest strengths as a company is our presence in communities across the country, which makes us an ideal partner for administering vaccines in a safe, convenient, and familiar manner," said Karen S. Lynch, President and Chief Executive Officer, CVS Health. "We continue to be grateful for the commitment of our frontline colleagues whose dedication has allowed us to deliver care and peace of mind throughout the pandemic."
CVS customers who are eligible will need to register for an appointment to receive the vaccine. They can start scheduling appointments on February 9th in advance of the vaccine's arrival on February 11th. Stores will accept appointments made through the company's web site , smart-phone app or customer service line at 800-746-7287.
