Dallas County COVID-19 threat level raised to orange

Dallas County (1080 KRLD) - County Judge Clay Jenkins has said that the COVID-19 threat level is back up to orange, or 'Extreme Caution' in Dallas County effective immediately. This is for unvaccinated people in Dallas County and comes in response to a surge in coronavirus cases and hospitalizations.

Jenkins announced the change last night on Twitter, following this up with a post stating: "Vaccines work to dramatically limit serious cases, hospitalizations and deaths."

Experts at UT Southwestern Medical Center released information earlier this week that indicated that if vaccinations rates remain low and if people don't step up the use of masks and social distancing, then by October North Texas will return to infection and hospitalization levels not seen since January.
