Dallas County District Attorney John Creuzot is doing an about-face on his policy for petty thefts.
Creuzot has recinded his policy of declining to prosecute those arrested for stealing necessary items such as food, baby formula and diapers.
Critics said the policy only increased thefts.
In a news release, Creuzot says there was no difference in crime, one way or the other. He says his office reserves the policy of taking or rejecting cases depending on the circumstances.
