Dallas County has launched a new physical activity campaign in an effort to combat obesity and heart disease.
Dallas County Health and Human Services Director Dr. Philip Huang says most individuals do not come close to the recommended physical activity recommendations.
"150 minutes per week for adults and 60 minutes per day for youth aged 5 through 17," Dr. Huang said. "One in four adults meet that and one in five youth meet the recommended guidelines."
They have launched the "Every Step Counts" initiative with a social media element to encourage as many people as possible to participate.
You can use the hashtag #EveryStepCountsDCHHS when posting photos and videos of physical activity.
