An inmate at the Dallas County Jail who escaped Wednesday afternoon was re-captured a few hours later in Garland.
The Dallas County Sheriff's Office says 31-year-old Carlos Duarte was a trusty on a special work detail when he jumped from a laundry detail transport vehicle. They put out a public alert with the warning that Duarte was known to visit both Irving and Garland.
Police in Garland got a call about someone acting erratically at a bus stop. When they arrived, they found Duarte and placed him under arrest.
The Dallas County Sheriff's Office says Duarte is being charged with escape. He was being held at the jail on two drug possession charges and a probation violation.
