The Dallas Economic Development Corporation voted Tuesday to commission a full evaluation of Dallas City Hall — ordering engineers, real-estate advisers, and architects to assess the 47-year-old building’s structural condition, repair costs and possible relocation options.
Located at 1500 Marilla Street downtown, City Hall now faces an estimated $152–$345 million in deferred maintenance, up sharply from less than $93 million projected in 2018.
City leaders say the review — led independently — will inform a decision due by Feb. 23, when the findings are scheduled for presentation to the city’s finance committee.
The assessment could shape whether Dallas renovates its symbolic municipal headquarters or explores alternative office space downtown.
