Dallas ISD is expected to reopen schools Wednesday following a two-day closure prompted by extreme cold and hazardous road conditions across North Texas.
The district shut down all campuses Monday and Tuesday after officials cited concerns about anticipated icy travel and dangerously low temperatures. All athletic events and practices, both indoor and outdoor, were also postponed during the closure.
In a Sunday afternoon update, Dallas ISD confirmed classes will resume Wednesday, while instructional time lost during the weather shutdown will be made up later this spring. The district plans to add makeup days on Monday, April 6 and Monday, May 4.
District leaders encouraged families and staff to continue monitoring official Dallas ISD communication channels for any additional updates as conditions improve.
The closures came as a powerful winter storm brought freezing temperatures and travel disruptions across the region, forcing multiple North Texas districts to adjust schedules for safety.
Students and staff are expected back on campuses Wednesday, assuming no further weather-related changes.
