Despite Governor Abbott's new mask order the Dallas ISD says it will continue to urge people to wear masks while in district buildings.
Dallas ISD officials say they understand the Governor's order will give people flexibly with wearing protective masks in their buildings, but they will continue to urge that they be worn.
Dallas ISD says they will keep social distancing and sanitation protocols in place.
Rene Honea with the Alliance AFT says the order is a bit premature and teachers would rather wait until the CDC comes up with new guidelines for schools this summer.
Honea says many of the schools in the district don't get out until June 18th, well past the Governor's June 4 deadline.
