The Dallas ISD 's virtual learning option opens today. It's called the Virtual Academy and it's for students ages 5 to 11 who can not get a COVID-19 vaccine.
The Dallas ISD is paying for the Virtual Academy and more than 1,500 students have already signed up. The program will be reevaluated after 9 weeks to decide if the virtual option is still needed.
In Forth Worth a temporary virtual option has been worked out and is just awaiting approval from the school board.
The Fort Worth ISD board meets tonight and is expected to approve the option. It's designed for students in kindergarten through the sixth grade who are not eligible for a vaccine and have a medical condition that keeps them from learning in person.
Once approved, the virtual learning option will begin on Monday, September 13 and continue through the entire fall semester. Parents can sign up for the virtual option starting at noon tomorrow and registration will end at midnight Sunday August 29th.
