A Dallas man who had been serving a 20-year prison term for a fatal shooting outside a Dallas Cowboys game will instead be on probation for the next 10 years.
A Tarrant County jury found 37-year-old Marvin Rodriguez guilty of a manslaughter charge. Seven years ago another jury found Rodriguez guilty of murder in the shooting of Richard Sells. That conviction was overturned and a new trial was ordered.
Everyone involved had been drinking for hours at a tailgate party on Oct. 11, 2015. An argument led to a fight and Rodriguez shot Sells in the neck. Sells died four days later.
A jury convicted Rodriguez of murder and sentenced him to 20 years in prison in 2017.
