A Dallas man is facing a federal charge in connection with an April 6th road rage shooting, one that involved a federal officer.
The justice department says on April 6th, an ATF agent observed 30-year-old Michael Fagan of Dallas running a red light in his SUV near the entrance to the Dallas Arboretum on Garland road in east Dallas.
According to a criminal complaint, the agent witnessed the driver of the SUV yelling and flailing his arms. Thinking he may have been experiencing an emergency, the agent asked Fagan if he was okay, but Fagan opened his door and started yelling incoherently at him.
DOJ reports then said Fagan allegedly grabbed a gun and fired two shots at the agent, who then drew his weapon and fired three shots in return, hitting him.
Fagan fled the scene and was later taken to Baylor hospital by his girlfriend, who had reported he had been shot. He later told police he was the victim of a road rage shooting.
Fagan is charged with assaulting a federal officer and faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
