The Dallas Mavericks have hired a new president and CEO.
According to the Dallas Morning News, Rick Welts has signed a multi-year contract to succeed Cynt Marshall, who is retiring at the end of the year. The 71-year-old Welts was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2018 and previously served as an executive with the Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors.
During his time in Golden State, the Warriors won three NBA titles. The Mavs are expected to formally introduce Welts during a press conference at noon.
