
New Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd is answering questions about a domestic violence incident from about 20 years ago.
Kidd was formally introduced to the media as the Mavericks coach yesterday.
While many questions were basketball related, some reporters wanted more information about the 2001 case where as a player for the Phoenix Suns, Kidd pleaded guilty to spousal abuse which resulted in the end of his first marriage.
Also, In 2012, while playing for the New York Knicks, he pleaded guilty in a DWI case.
Mavs CEO Cynt Marshall told reporters she personally checked Kidd's background, saying she asked experts for advice on how to address his past.
