The city of Dallas has announced the finalists to become the next police chief, following the departure of former Chief Eddie Garcia.

The candidates include Carrollton Police Chief Robert Arredondo, former FBI Assistant Director Brian Boetig, Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent in Charge Daniel Comeaux, interim Dallas Police Chief Michael Igo, and Dallas Police Assistant Chief Catrina Shead.

Over the next two weeks, the finalists will participate in panel interviews with a range of stakeholders, including police officials, business representatives, faith-based groups, police oversight bodies, and community members.

The final decision will rest with City Manager Kim Tolbert, who is expected to announce her choice by the second week of April.

Dallas, the nation’s ninth-largest police department, operates with a $719 million budget.
